THE KHEBIKES HISTORY

KHEbikes was incorporated as a company in 1988. Here we have listed some of the most significant moments and greatest successes in our long history. Many thanks to the magazine Freedom-BMX, who have published a detailed article about our history, and which we also quote here.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN ...

The company KHEbikes was founded in 1988 by the brothers Thomas and Wolfgang Göring in Karlsruhe. Thomas remembers: "I started with BMX in 1981 at the age of 10 years. At the age of 16 I started an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic in 1988 and bought a small lathe together with my brother to produce my own BMX parts. The problem at that time was that most of the parts just didn't hold".

"KHE stands for Kinky Huge Elephant"... not!

"Back then everybody asked us what KHE actually stood for. As a joke, we printed a T-shirt that said "Kinky Huge Elephant"." But actually KHE stands for Karlsruhe, the hometown of Thomas and Wolfgang Göring. According to legend, Thomas drew the first logo himself on a glass table in his children's room.
